The Lifeline program in Illinois helps low-income individuals and households obtain local telephone service through a partial subsidy of monthly local phone bills. UTAC also provides a partial subsidy towards the cost of installing a new phone for wireline subscribers.
You may be eligible for greatly reduced local phone line installation and a credit each month to lower the cost of your local phone service.
The Link-Up and Lifeline programs provide these benefits to eligible individuals and families.
Are you eligible? Consumers enrolled in one or more of the following assistance programs may qualify for the Lifeline benefit:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – formerly Food Stamps
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Federal Housing Assistance
- Veterans Survivors Pension Benefit Program
